Malo From Tonga

Yes everyone i have made it to The Kingdom of Tonga!!
My journey here was very much like Tongan life.....very slow, and long.  The islands of Tonga are so incredibly beautiful....challenging, yet beautiful.
There is no power on the island of Ouleve (in the Ha'apai Group) so electrinics, anything cold, or vision at night is a struggle.  I am very much easing into the lifestyle here with the exception of the Tongan diet.  They consume mostly, white bread, tones of butter, coke, fish, pig, and almost anything they are able to kill.  For those of you who know me, this is somewhat different then the diet i have been focused on.....  my diet consists of mainly coconut meat, coconut water, papaya, fish, and eggs when i can get them.  Vegges are at the market once a week, but i need a boat to get to them..
I was creating a really good relationship a really neat dog on the island, problem was he vanished one day..... then the Tongan men admitted they ate him because he was chasing their wild pig....
The island of Ouleva that i am staying on is so beautiful.  It is 3 miles around and beach all the way around.  The reef on all sides is beyond words!!  Its like a scene from Avatar... so colorful, so diverse, and never ending.  It will take me weeks to discover all the caves, waterways etc.  I am still attempting to down load photos.... now power for camera and laptop, patience is my number 1 lesson here.
As far as the whales go i have had 2 life changing experiences with them so far.  Yesterday i was in the water with a cow (female whale) and her calf for about a 1/2 hr.  They got so close i didnt know what to do!!! The eye, oh the whale eye...... this is a connection i believe everyone should experience...  My heart overfloweth.
Must sign off now internet going down.  Until next time.
So much Love and Mahalo to all
Shelly
